Song: Everything Was Made by God
Object: Apple and knife
Good morning boys and girls, How many of you are happy to be in church today? How many adults in our congregation are happy to be in church today (Raise both hands, encouraging others to follow)?
I have a surprise for you inside this apple. You can't see it from the outside, and there are no clues. Watch as I take this knife and cut through to the center. If I cut at the exact location, you will see something very special (Cut cross-wise, to the center). There, do you see the star? The star has five corners that hold the seeds. Now if I had cut it up and down, you would never have seen this special feature. Remember, it's what's inside that counts.
Could you tell by looking on the outside what was inside the apple? No, but God knew. How did He know? Because He made the apple. And God knows what is inside your heart and mind too. How do we know? Because God made us. God knows when we are happy and when we are sad. He knows when we tell the truth and when we don't. He knows when we do what is pleasing to our parents and when we disobey. God knows all about us because He made us. and it is what is inside a person that counts, not what we see from the outside.
Listen as I read from Hebrews 4:13. "Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight." Let's ask God to help us to always do what is pleasing to Him. When we obey His Word we will be happy.
Ask the pianist to play softly, Everything Was Made by God, as the children return to their seats.
