Charles Lindbergh became an instant hero in 1927 when he became the first flyer to make a Trans-Atlantic solo flight. A reporter asked him just before take-off why he was taking only five sandwiches and a container of water with him. Lindbergh replied, “If I get to Paris, I won’t need any more, and if I don’t get to Paris I won’t need any more.”
Some people seem to spend most of their time and resources amassing possessions. They seem to believe that winners in life are those who die with the most toys.
All of us are short-termers here on earth – 80 or 90 years at most. The only things we will take with us when we leave are those investments we have made in the lives of others. Travel light. (Bill Bouknight, “Just a Thought”)
