In her book, To Lead Is to Serve, Shar McBee retells an old story from the Talmud. It was about a king and his son who loved each other, but could not get along. Eventually the son moved far away. After some time, the son got sick and the father suggested he come home. The son in his pride simply replied, “I cannot.” The king sent a second message, “Just turn around and come as far as you can. I will come to meet you wherever you are.” We have behaved as the son. We also have a King and Father who loves us as this father loved his son.
