The Gospel Code Ben Witherington III July 1, 2004 Millions of people have read the bestselling The Da Vinci Code, and not a few may have struggled with the questions raised by this fictional work that purports to be based on an historical foundation. Several recent releases seek to respond to Dan Brown’s novel, and one of the better offerings is The Gospel Code (InterVarsity Perss) by Ben Witherington III, who teaches New Testament at Asbury Seminary. Witherington’s book (due to be released in July) helps readers better understand the truth about Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and the Gospel writings – and lays to rest some of the historical inaccuracies that form the basis for the popular novel’s premise.
