An 86-year-old Connecticut man and his wife awoke at 3:00 am hearing a lot of noise in their house. It turns out a bear had finished off all the watermelons in the garden and decided to come into the house in search of more treats.

The bear gained access by ripping out a dog door, but apparently the only other damage he did was some scratches on the bathroom wall.

The homeowners called police, who said there had been multiple bear sightings in the Branford, CT, area this summer.

The man suggested police arrest the bear for “breaking and entering,” but no charges have yet been filed.
