Happy New Year!(an object lesson using a calendar)
Happy New Year! (an object lesson using a calendar)
Just about every family in this church started using a new one this week. Do you know what I'm talking about? A calendar! Why do we use a calendar? That's right -- it helps us keep track of the days and weeks and months of the year. I carry around a calendar in my pocket, and when someone asks me to do something on a certain day, I write it down so that I won't forget it. Somewhere in your house there's probably a calendar with days to remember and birthdays and anniversaries and lots of important things on it. Calendars are valuable because they help us remember what we need to do and where we need to be. Did you know there's another book that also helps us with that? It's called the Bible! The Bible is God's Word to us, and it contains lots of things He wants us to remember. When we read the Bible, God reminds us of how much He loves us, and He reminds us of the things we should do in our lives to be our very best. Just as we look at a calendar every day, I hope you will decide today to read your Bible every day this year. Let God speak to you through His Word so that this year can be the very best for you!
