OPTIMISM

Motivational speaker Jack Canfield likes to remind people of an incident in the life of Ty Cobb. No doubt much of Cobb’s life and career is controversial, but you have to like this story. When Cobb was 70, he was asked by a reporter, “What do you think you would hit if you were playing today?” Cobb replied, “About .290, or .300.” Since Cobb had been a lifetime .376 hitter, the reporter asked, “Why is that? Cobb replied, “Because I’m 70.”
