When Your Family's Lost a Loved One
Reviewed On: May 13, 2008

Pastors often are the frontline for the grief-striken, but who ministers to them that they might be of help to the hurting? David and Nancy Guthrie recently authored When Your Family’s Lost a Loved One, which is practically and compassionately written from their own experience of losing two infants of their own.

Although intended as a resource for clergy, the book is helpful to share with hurting families, many of which do not expect such loss to strain other important relationships. The Guthries explore myths surrounding the loss of loved ones, explaining everyone grieves in individual ways, and strive toward showing readers the loss of a loved one can pull families closer rather than having to suffer additional wounds of serparation.

The couple also host GriefShare video series, a resource used in support groups throughout America.
